About The Position
This position is for a Teaching Assistant for ESL 120, Section S100, during the Spring/Summer 2026 semester. The course is an integrated four-skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) academic development program for English language learners. The approach is student-centered, interactive, and task-based, with an emphasis on formative evaluation. The role involves assisting in the preparation and delivery of lessons, attending group meetings, and reporting on class activities. The work is to be performed on the Main Campus and requires in-person instruction.
Requirements
- Capacity to facilitate group work through a student-centered, task-based learning approach.
- Capacity to explain the English verb system, sentence structure, and academic vocabulary to second language learners.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- This course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction.
Nice To Haves
- Previous ESL training and classroom experience is an asset.
- Classroom multimedia experience is an asset.
- Interview may be required.
