About The Position
This position is for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor for the PRINCIPLES OF CHEMISTRY (CHM1711 LAB) course during the Fall 2026 semester. The role involves assisting students in the laboratory, grading lab reports, and enforcing safety directives. The work is governed by the CUPE 2626 collective agreement.
Requirements
- Must have successfully completed one year of general chemistry.
- Must have successfully completed one year of organic chemistry.
- Must have successfully completed CHM 2554 and CHM 2531/2532 or their equivalents.
- Must have successfully completed workshops on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- All individuals who are not graduate students in chemistry must pass a qualification test (unless already completed in the previous semester).
Responsibilities
- Assist students in the laboratory and elsewhere.
- Grade laboratory reports.
- Implement safety directives in the laboratory.
- Supervise a final exam.
- Attend training sessions.
