About The Position

This posting is for a Teaching Assistant (TA) position for the Thermodynamics course (PHY3350) during the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Science, Department of Physics. The position is classified under CUPE 2626. The TA will be responsible for marking assignments, tests, and midterms, assisting students during office hours, preparing answers for quizzes and assignments, and proctoring a final exam. The total expected work hours are 65, with specific allocations for grading (46 hours), student contact (10 hours), and preparation (5 hours), and proctoring (4 hours). The hourly rate depends on student status: undergraduate students will be paid $31.89/hour, and graduate students will be paid $50.25/hour. These rates do not include vacation or statutory pay and are subject to change based on a new collective agreement.

Requirements

  • Completion of four (4) years of University level Physics or equivalent.
