About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor for the PRINCIPLES OF CHEMISTRY course (CHM1711) in the Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences. The role involves assisting students in the laboratory and elsewhere, grading lab reports, and ensuring safety directives are followed in the lab. The position is for the Fall 2026 semester, with an expected start date of September 01, 2026, and an end date of December 31, 2026. The total expected work hours are 65.

Requirements

• Must have successfully completed one year of general chemistry.
• Must have successfully completed one year of organic chemistry.
• Must have successfully completed CHM 2554.
• Must have successfully completed CHM 2531/2532 or their equivalents.
• Must have successfully completed workshops on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
• All persons who are not graduate students in chemistry must pass a test to qualify (unless already completed in the previous semester).

Responsibilities

• Assist students in the laboratory and elsewhere.
• Grade laboratory reports.
• Implement safety directives in the laboratory.
• Supervise a final exam.
