About The Position
The PT Teaching Artist Hiland - Apprentice role at The Hiland Theater in Albuquerque, NM is a part-time position focused on teaching and choreography, as well as production support. The apprenticeship includes paid training under a master teacher, participation in workshops to develop pedagogy and teaching skills, and the creation of choreography for outreach programs. The role also involves backstage support for performances. The artist will follow the NDI New Mexico program curriculum and may be asked to sub classes. This position requires a belief in the organization's mission, a "Can Do" attitude, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Requirements
- Professional dance performance experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in job-related duties
- Flexibility in work schedule

Responsibilities
- Participates in training and enrichment workshops to learn pedagogy and build teaching skills.
- Prepares assignments and lesson plans for classes as directed by lead teaching artist.
- Works collaboratively with teaching and music team to create choreography for outreach programs.
- Works backstage in support of culminating performances for programs.
- Attends all enrichment workshops and staff meetings as needed.
- Follows NDI New Mexico program curriculum set by program director.
- Provides program director with required materials and information as needed.
- Subbing classes when available.
- Other duties as needed and mutually agreed upon.
