About The Position

This announcement is for a contingent position as a Teacher for the Middle School LINKS, Lifeskills, and Developmental Extended Year Program for Summer 2026. The program is contingent on enrollment, funding, and programming. Applications are being accepted from Monday, April 13, 2026, through Friday, May 29, 2026, via MYSPS. The position reports to the Building Principal or designee. The salary is $50.00/hour for working with students and $29.10/hour for prep time. The program schedule runs from July 6, 2026, to July 30, 2026, with student instruction from 8:00 am to 1:45 pm and a work schedule from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm. Teachers are required to attend mandatory training.

• Ability to modify curriculum and accommodate students as needed.
• Facility in implementing students’ IEPs to meet their individual needs.
• Ability to manage classroom staff and work with other professionals to provide a quality educational experience.
• Professional communication skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population and staff pool.

• Preference given to teachers currently employed in the LINKS Program in Springfield Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Keep student attendance records and follow up with absenteeism.
• Provide timely information to families and students.
• Prevent regression through academic and/or gross motor and/or social skills instruction as outlined in the students’ IEPs.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Assume responsibility for the office and clerical work associated with this Extended Year Program.
• Communicate student attendance and retention of skills during the Extended Year program to the students’ 2026-2027 schools.
• Feed, diaper, and assist with personal hygiene as needed.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Teacher of this summer program.
