About The Position

Springfield Public Schools is seeking Paraprofessionals and CNAs for the Extended Year (Summer 2026) Program. This position is contingent on enrollment, funding, and programming. The program will run from July 6, 2026, to July 30, 2026. The work schedule is from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm, with the program schedule from 8:00 am to 1:45 pm. Teachers are required to attend mandatory training with the Summer Coordinator. The School Program Coordinator is responsible for training Summer School Staff on selected curriculum and summer expectations.

Requirements

• Presently employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional in the Springfield Public Schools.
• Has not received a layoff notice.
• Availability required for entire program work schedule.
• Must have a secured position for the 2026-2027 school year

Nice To Haves

• Preference will be given paraprofessionals presently working in the same program during the academic year.
• Preference will be given to paraprofessionals who have worked in the extended year program to facilitate continuity of instruction and social/ emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Responsible to Site Coordinator, Special Education Teacher, Special Education Supervisor, and Principal
• Provide instructional assistance, under the direction of the teacher, to a small group or individual student(s).
• Responsible for providing clerical services such as preparing, duplicating, organizing, and distributing materials to children and other miscellaneous clerical tasks.
• Assist in feeding during lunch and snack periods when needed.
• Feed, diaper, and assist with personal hygiene as needed.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Site Coordinator of this summer program.
