About The Position

Teacher for the 2027–2028 school year in Career / Technical Education at RCPS. This is a 10-, 10.5-, 11-, or 11.5-month position and is open until filled.

The role requires thorough knowledge of the trade or subject taught; secondary and career and technical education principles, practices, and procedures; effective teaching principles and methods; and school division rules, regulations, and procedures. The teacher establishes and maintains behavior standards, delivers articulate oral presentations and written reports, and builds effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.

Candidates must meet one of the listed education, licensure, and occupational-experience pathways. Specific certification and/or experience may be required or preferred depending on the trade or subject area.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of the trade or subject taught.
• Thorough knowledge of secondary and career and technical educational principles, practices, and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of effective teaching principles and methodology.
• Thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior.
• Ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
• Meet one of these qualification pathways: (1) graduate of an accredited college or university and possess or be eligible to acquire the appropriate license(s) and endorsement(s) in the trade and industrial education program subject area, as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board; (2) graduate of an approved teacher preparation program and possess current state licensure or applicable industry certification based on the prescribed standard or examination, plus at least two years or 4,000 clock hours of satisfactory occupational experience within the past five years in the teaching specialty endorsement area; or (3) hold a Technical Professional License with an endorsement in a specialized trade and industrial education area.
