About The Position

New London Adult & Continuing Education is seeking a part-time Teacher to help students learn subjects to pass the GED exams. This role is part of the New London Public Schools team, which celebrates innovation, values every voice, and empowers staff to make a lasting impact on students and the community.

Requirements

• GED (107)
• 1-2 years of experience teaching GED
• Prior experiences working in an environment with adult learners
• State certification requirements for the teaching area

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students on material needed in order to earn their GED.
• Teach basic skills encompassing math, science, English, and Social Studies.
• Help students prepare and study for GED exams.
• Assess students' readiness to take exam.
• Create projects designed to enhance lectures.
• Utilize various curriculum resources.
• Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
• Work with program lead to ensure initiatives are being met.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Observe and evaluate student's performance.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
