This position involves teaching and co-teaching academic classes at various correctional facilities, with a preferred strength in Special Education. The role requires developing and conducting professional development for teachers, coordinating documentation for testing accommodations, and collaborating on research-based practices. The teacher will also create Student Support Teams, maintain Special Education data, and work with administration to deliver specialized instruction in a secure setting. Responsibilities include daily attendance, updating case plans, awarding Earned Good Time, completing performance ratings, and maintaining current teaching licenses. The position also involves administering standardized testing, managing incarcerated individual education files, identifying potential participants, scheduling testing, determining eligibility for educational programming, and addressing referrals. A comprehensive knowledge of current educational assessments, professional development, and DOC policies is expected. Collaboration with internal and external professionals is key to enhancing strategic goals. Professional interaction with staff and incarcerated individuals, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and reporting security matters are essential. Other assigned duties will also be part of the role.
