This position involves teaching and co-teaching academic classes at various correctional facilities, with a preference for Special Education expertise. The role requires developing and conducting special education instructional professional development, coordinating testing accommodations, and collaborating on research-based practices. The teacher will create Student Support Teams, maintain Special Education data with a Data Analyst, and work with incarcerated individuals who may have medical, psychosocial, or educational deficits. Responsibilities include managing student attendance, updating case plans, awarding Earned Good Time, completing performance ratings, and ensuring timely documentation for program completion. The role also involves administering standardized testing, maintaining education files, identifying class participants, scheduling academic testing, determining eligibility for educational programming, and managing waitlists. The teacher will utilize current educational assessments, maintain records of professional development, and demonstrate knowledge of DOC policies and procedures. Engagement in division priorities, collaboration with internal and external professionals, and professional interaction with staff and incarcerated individuals are key. The teacher is responsible for reporting security matters and managing their classroom according to institutional rules.
