Provides direct instruction to students identified for special education instructional services to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development. This role involves meeting and instructing assigned classes/students in inclusive and separate settings, documenting and communicating pupil progress, participating in parent-teacher conferences, and ensuring an orderly learning environment. The teacher will employ a variety of instructional techniques, teach district-approved curriculum, and develop lesson plans and instructional materials. They will also create an environment for learning, collect and maintain ongoing data for progress monitoring, and participate in interdisciplinary staffing/conferences. Developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and actively seeking necessary services are key responsibilities. The role requires establishing effective working relationships, communicating regularly with parents, and planning/supervising the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers.
