About The Position

Creates a Business Education program using Common Core and NM State Standards. Creates an environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Establishes effective rapport with students and motivates students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to obtain a good foundation in business skills.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree.
Current New Mexico teaching certificate in specified field.
Current endorsements dependent upon specific positions may be required.
Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge of various routine tasks, duties and procedures and the ability to follow specific instructions with little or no previous experience.
Ability to exercise considerable and sound judgment to instruct students and manage their behavior.
Willingness to improve competency by periodically participating in some form of professional growth and to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
Ability to deal with various ethnic groups.
Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
Must have skill in oral and written communication.
Needs the ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
Able to work collaboratively to achieve the overall goals of the school and the District.
Regularly required to stand; move throughout the room and/or facility; communicate verbally and electronically; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and drive.
Regularly required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds; occasionally required to lift or exert force of up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual English/Spanish.
At least one year’s previous teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Cooperates in the development and implementation of the District program of instruction.
Plans and implements lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and complies with NM Public Education Department standards and the SFPS Board of Education goals and objectives.
Institutes clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, units, and projects in accordance with curriculum goals and communicates objectives to students.
Establishes and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning by managing appropriate student behavior.
Prescribes effective learning programs and initiates referrals to appropriate personnel when concerns arise.
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the District assessment program.
Institutes open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students' academic, social, and behavioral progress.
Provides directions and materials for substitute teachers.
Plans for and supervises classroom aides, guests, and volunteers.
Cooperates with staff and support personnel in assessing and helping students with health, attitude, learning, and behavioral problems.
Utilizes technology in the classroom.
Other duties as assigned.
