About The Position

Adventure Elementary is a dual language enrichment school where students are exposed to rigorous academics, learn to think critically, and demonstrate real-world understanding. Learning experiences and service-learning projects actively engage Adventure students in their education. What makes Adventure unique is that we offer all students the opportunity to become proficient in English and Spanish. All students participate in Crew meetings every morning. Crew is a sacred part of the day in which students and teachers build community within their rooms so that every child feels important and connected to a trusted adult and each other. At Adventure we are working hard to develop students that are effective learners, ethical people, and contribute to a better world.

Requirements

• Colorado teaching license with an appropriate Elementary endorsement.
• English Learner Professional Development Designation required; (or willingness to pursue required coursework.
• K-3 teachers must provide documentation of evidence-based literacy training, Read Act Designation, per CDE requirements.
• Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish required. (Must be able to read, write, and speak in both languages fluently)

Nice To Haves

• Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework.
• Background in bilingual education and/or language acquisition preferred.
• Previous training in KAPLAN, ECAR, and ECAW preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adjusting curriculum and working cooperatively with other staff through inclusion to meet the diverse needs of learners (including special education, at-risk, linguistically, and culturally diverse).
• Using a variety of instructional deliveries include, but are not limited to, cooperative learning, multi-sensory reading, and math.
• Designing and delivering instruction and assessment in a standards-based system.
• Collaborating and solving problems.
• Designing instructional intervention that is clearly focused on the standards and assessments established by the District and the State.
• Providing expanded opportunities and support for learner success.
• Demonstrating and modeling high expectations for all students to succeed.
• Aligning all instruction with and designing instructional interventions with State and local standards and assessments.
• Establishing and maintaining strong classroom management.
• Utilizing a variety of teaching styles to accommodate student-learning needs.
• Administering a variety of assessments.
• Working with a team approach.
• Writing quality IEPs, including goals and benchmarks based on assessments and needs.
• Flexibility around IEP meeting times.
• Participating in mandatory Title IX training within 30 days of hire and completing it on personal time.
• Attending Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training on non-verbal de-escalation and physical restraint if required by assignment, and attending refresher courses every 18-24 months.
