About The Position

The Teacher's Aide will assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefits for students. This role involves substituting for the teacher when they are absent, providing instructional support, implementing behavioral programming, and offering personal and safety assistance to students. The aide will also maintain records, communicate with the team, and help maintain a clean and organized learning environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
Paraprofessional Educator License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Ability to perform CPR and CPI.
Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in education, human services, or disability-related field.
Paraprofessional Educator License.

Responsibilities

Substitute teacher when the teacher is absent or out of the classroom.
Provide instructional support to assigned students to implement educational programs as determined by the teacher/resource team/administrator.
Construct, modify, and adapt instructional materials, games, displays, and learning centers.
Work with students to operate computer and supportive technology.
Supervise student completion of educational activities as outlined in the IEP, observe and record data.
Maintain records and files relevant to assignment, including anecdotal notes, written observations, and accurate education folders.
Implement behavioral programming as determined by the team.
Provide personal and safety assistance to students.
Communicate and share ideas and concerns with the lead Teacher/Site Director and team/professionals.
Actively participate in meetings as required.
Assist with critical daily activities such as classroom transition times, mealtimes, and toileting.
Supervise students in the classroom, media room, cafeteria/multi-purpose room, sensory room, gym, playground, and on field trips.
Foster student independence.
Work collaboratively as a member of the team.
Help maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
Sanitize all surfaces, equipment, and classroom toys.
Maintain American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.
Successfully complete Little City required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
