About The Position

Sacred Heart School of Glyndon, located in Reisterstown, Maryland, seeks a full-time qualified and enthusiastic Middle School Language Arts (ELA) and Religion Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic school year. The ideal candidate will be committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and fostering a positive learning environment for all students. The Middle School Language Arts (ELA) and Religion Teacher is responsible for delivering all curriculum instruction for 6th- and 7th-grade ELA, as well as 6th- and 8th-grade Religion. The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students is essential. The teacher should also be knowledgeable about integrating technology into classroom lessons.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and current MSDE certification required, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Must be an active, practicing Catholic who is fully able to participate in the life of the Church.
  • Successful experience in student teaching and/or classroom teaching.
  • Demonstrated understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be proficient in using a variety of technologies to support daily instruction, as well as to enrich and differentiate learning for students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a grade-appropriate instructional program for students that adheres to the school's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Maintain an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Develop lesson plans with clear objectives aligned with the Archdiocese of Baltimore curriculum and Maryland State Standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Provide regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff, and administration.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, their families, and fellow employees.
  • Perform assigned duties related to the supervision of students before, during, and after school.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school committees, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Be responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for effective classroom management using PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Attend school events, including Back-to-School Nights, Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conference Days, and other events as requested by the administration.
