The UNM-Valencia Campus Upward Bound Program is seeking a Teacher, Pre-College Programs for its summer program. This grant-funded, on-call position, with funding available through 08/31/2026, will manage day-to-day aspects of the Upward Bound Program. Responsibilities include tutoring, leading workshops, teaching, and delivering college preparation and academic lessons to high school students at specific locations: Los Lunas High School (Mathematics), Belen High School (Language Arts), and Valencia High School (Mathematics and Language Arts). The role involves supporting and instructing students during the summer, providing assistance in language arts or other pre-college disciplines at local high schools and UNM-Valencia Campus. The position requires employing various pedagogical practices to improve student academic progress and equip them with skills for higher education transition. It also involves supporting and engaging students in college preparatory topics, and documenting student progress, attendance, and other tracking tasks. The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus, located south of Albuquerque, is a two-year branch campus functioning as a community college and is a Hispanic Serving Institution. It offers academic transfer programs, vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit courses. The faculty and staff serve approximately 2,000 students per semester. UNM has received a platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for its workplace policies.
