About The Position

This position is a REPLACEMENT contract for no longer than the 2026-2027 school year or whenever the staff member on leave returns to work, whichever occurs first. Estimated dates are September 1, 2026 - End of school year. The replacement contract will end on the last student day in June 2027 or the day the staff member returns, and benefits will end on the last day of the month in which the contract ends. Under the immediate direction and supervision of the assigned Assistant Superintendent, Director or Building Principal, this position provides the necessary leadership in the planning, coordination and implementation of a subject area, special project, or grade level instructional program and performs other duties directly related to this position description.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with appropriate educational endorsement and five years successful teaching experience; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.
Must maintain all licenses and certifications as a condition of continued employment.
Valid Washington State teaching certificate or ESA certificate.
Valid Washington State driver’s license.
Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.
Demonstrated knowledge of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act , including student eligibility determination, immediate enrollment rights, school stability protections, transportation requirements, dispute resolution procedures, and protections for unaccompanied youth.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local resources serving students and families experiencing homelessness , with the ability to apply McKinney-Vento requirements to remove barriers to attendance, enrollment, educational access, and student success.
Ability to interpret and implement McKinney-Vento laws and regulations in collaboration with schools, housing providers, and community agencies , ensuring compliance while advocating for the educational rights and stability of students experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities

Plans cooperatively with District or school staff in the design, development and delivery of all assigned projects or programs.
Facilitates and maintains communication between District, project team, parents and school site(s) staff regarding information about the assigned projects or programs.
Represents the District, project or program Director and school site(s) as necessary and assists with leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of the particular assignment.
Assists with overall responsibility for monitoring program(s) budget and advises designated Supervisor on necessary expenditures.
Plans and conducts necessary meetings as related to special assignment.
Responsible for receiving, distributing, and replying to special assignment communications.
Motivates project/program participants to develop skills and attitudes that foster success.
Participates with the appropriate District administration to develop the method by which the special assignment is evaluated.
Serves as a resource person to ensure program goals meet the specialized need of students.
Identifies, encourages and, when feasible, provides on-site staff development and instructional coaching support to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about program components and understand the accountability aspects toward a high performing school.
Assists the teachers in maintaining a classroom atmosphere/environment conducive to learning and highest student achievement.
Provides instructional support to the school community in the full implementation of the assigned projects or programs.
Keeps abreast of current research applicable to the assigned projects or programs.
Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities, workshops and conferences as needed or as assigned.
Manages special projects and performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.
