About The Position

This is a part-time position for the 2026-2027 school year, starting at the beginning of the school year and continuing for the entire academic year. The role involves providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, conducting assessments, adapting materials, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure student success. The position is with a supportive, local district partnership and offers W-2 employment with liability insurance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited college or university in Special Education or related field.
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visually Impaired.
  • Valid South Carolina state teaching license in both areas of Special Education: Multicategorical AND also in Early Childhood
  • Strong classroom management and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments in alignment with their IEPs
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments to guide instructional planning
  • Adapt materials into accessible formats such as braille, large print, and tactile graphics
  • Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to support student access and success
  • Support development of independence, assistive technology use, and compensatory skills
  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
  • Provide specialized instruction across academic subjects
  • Manage classroom behavior and create a structured, supportive environment
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Write progress reports and maintain compliant documentation
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies for diverse learning needs
  • Incorporate technology and resources to enhance learning
