About The Position
This is a full-time position for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) located in Orlando, FL. The role involves working with children with visual impairments and potentially other disabilities, requiring a Bachelor's degree and specific certifications. The position requires a range of physical abilities to assist children and participate in various activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Visual Disabilities Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or other related degree.
- TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) certification, State of Florida.
- Dual TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) State and (O&M) Orientation & Mobility Specialist certification is also acceptable.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Possess an ability to utilize the database for client demographics, documentation, and agency reports.
- Possess practical organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Maintain required certification and license.
- Possess reliable transportation.
- Must pass Level II background checks.
Nice To Haves
- Master's Degree from an accredited university emphasizing Orientation and Mobility.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching or working with children with a disability.
Responsibilities
- Teach children with visual impairments.
- Provide support for Recreational Safety, including CPR and First Aid.
- Utilize a database for client demographics, documentation, and agency reports.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor field trips.
- Assist visually impaired and multi-handicapped children.
- Maintain required certification and license.
- Pass Level II background checks.
