About The Position

NationMind LLC is seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TOD/DHH) to provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss. This role is responsible for ensuring equitable access to curriculum through individualized instruction, communication development, and collaboration with staff and families. The TOD/DHH plays a critical role in supporting students’ academic achievement, language acquisition, and overall independence.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct instruction to students in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Provide specialized academic instruction aligned with IEP goals
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Support language acquisition using appropriate communication modes (e.g., ASL, spoken language, total communication)
  • Facilitate development of expressive and receptive language skills
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collect and analyze student progress data to inform instruction and reporting
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot hearing technology (hearing aids, FM systems, cochlear implants)
  • Ensure students have consistent access to auditory information throughout the school day
  • Partner with general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators
  • Collaborate with families and audiologists to support student success
  • Provide recommendations for classroom accommodations and modifications
  • Conduct assessments of students’ auditory, language, academic, and functional skills
  • Use assessment data to guide instruction and support eligibility determinations
