About The Position

North Hudson Academy is seeking a full-time Teacher of Students with Disabilities to serve students in preschool through transition-age programs. The school is a New Jersey Department of Education-approved private special education school serving students from PreK through high school, with programs for students with behavioral or emotional issues, preschool students with disabilities, and learners on the Autism Spectrum. The position is based at North Hudson Academy in North Bergen, New Jersey, and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The role is part of the Instructional team and reports to the school principal. Compensation is $61,000–$80,000 per year.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
New Jersey Standard Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH), and/or appropriate New Jersey instructional certification for the assignment: Elementary Education (K–6).
Meet all licensure, endorsement, and assignment requirements established by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Responsibilities

Plan and carry out individual students’ IEPs and instructional programs.
Plan and manage the school’s therapeutic approach to individual and group discipline.
Coordinate and schedule activities with other staff.
Maintain and inventory classroom supplies and instructional materials.
Keep required records.
Write reports, meet with parents and professionals, and share professional information about individual students as required.
Participate in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities.
Contribute to overall program planning.
Complete other periodic assignments as requested by the School Administration Team.
