About The Position

North Hudson Academy is seeking a full-time Teacher of Students with Disabilities to serve students in preschool through transition-age programs at its New Jersey Department of Education-approved private special education school in North Bergen, New Jersey. The school serves students from PreK through high school and specializes in programs for students with behavioral or emotional issues, preschool students with disabilities, and learners on the Autism Spectrum. The role is part of the Instructional team and reports to the school principal. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. This is an exempt position with an immediate opening. The compensation range is $61,000–$80,000 per year.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
New Jersey Standard Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH), and/or appropriate New Jersey instructional certification for the assignment, including Elementary Education (K–6).
Meet all licensure, endorsement, and assignment requirements established by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Responsibilities

Plan and carry out each student’s IEP and instructional program.
Plan and manage the school’s therapeutic approach to individual and group discipline.
Coordinate and schedule activities with other staff.
Maintain and inventory classroom supplies and instructional materials.
Keep required records.
Write reports, meet with parents and professionals, and share professional information about individual students as required.
Participate in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities.
Contribute to overall program planning.
Complete other periodic assignments as requested by the School Administration.
