About The Position

These teacher leader positions are designed to provide support and assistance toward meeting the performance plan goals at the assigned school. This position may take on different specific responsibilities which are identified in the next section. Individuals who hold a teacher leader position will help facilitate each area listed below and will focus on areas that capitalize upon personal areas of strength while providing input and collaboration with the principal and building teams. In addition, the teacher leader will have training opportunities to further develop their leadership skills. Each building will hire 3 general teacher leaders for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Demonstrates positive leadership skills and abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong technical skills (Google Apps for Education & Canvas).
  • Successful in maintaining organizational systems.
  • Demonstrates success as a creative problem solver.
  • Demonstrates success in facilitating small groups.
  • Demonstrates success as a reliable team member.
  • Must hold a valid Oregon Teaching License.

  • Optional opportunities may be made available to attend trainings of interest with sub release time.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the principal’s school leadership team.
  • Lead to create a positive school culture.
  • Collaboratively plan, lead, and support all school-based CLT meetings (e.g., track CLT building progress, PD planning and support, organize assessments and data, post calendars).
  • Be willing to demonstrate and share best teaching practices with others. This may include but is not limited to best instructional strategies, model PLCs, and teaching demonstrations.
  • Participate in systemic change and transformations that are necessary for school improvement for the benefit of students and improved student achievement.
  • Participate in leadership development opportunities (e.g., CLT planning, curriculum implementation, Equity Collaborative) as calendared.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and other stakeholders about school leadership meetings, school performance plan goals & strategies for achievement.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and events outside of the regular contract day both in the assigned school and at the district level.
  • Report the progress of the team back to the overseeing administrator and provide data for the school scorecard and SLGs.
  • Assist in the school-based initiatives (e.g., RTI, CLTs, Scorecard, instructional practices, attendance, PBIS).
  • Availability to attend 1 day of on-site training in August to help prepare for inservice week [Building and District training - To be scheduled].
  • Availability to attend 1 day of on-site training on October Inservice day.
  • Participation in District Equity Collaborative.
