About The Position

The North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) is an online K-12 public school serving students across North Carolina. NCVPS provides access to online courses that may be unavailable due to teacher shortages or scheduling conflicts, ensuring equity of access to high-quality education regardless of location. This is a contract-based, online (remote) position.

Requirements

  • Applicable curriculum and grade-level specific, current NC license (or a NCDPI receipt as proof of submitted license application).
  • Must hold a clear NC license by the end of the TnT Program.
  • Must have a current NC Professional Educator’s Teaching License in the subject areas in which they are applying to teach.

Responsibilities

  • Manage instructional time effectively, ensuring availability of appropriate devices, internet access, materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain posted office hours for students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Provide instruction primarily through asynchronous methods via the learning management system.
  • Deliver personalized feedback on student assignments and communicate via various methods within specified timeframes.
  • Facilitate lessons and instructional activities using concepts and language understandable to students.
  • Provide relevant examples and demonstrations to illustrate concepts and skills.
  • Adhere to standards and course curriculum.
  • Provide personalized instruction via the learning management system.
  • Interact daily within a variety of digital systems and provide basic technology troubleshooting assistance to students.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and engage in continuous collaboration and communication with the enrolling school.
  • Maintain clear, firm, and reasonable standards and due dates.
  • Check all students’ performance and adjust instruction and feedback based on student and class needs.
  • Provide grading and personalized feedback for all student work to encourage student growth and mastery.
  • Display excellent digital skills and the ability to facilitate learning and community within a digital environment.
  • Develop and implement an instructional plan compatible with organizational curricular goals and state/national standards.
  • Use diagnostic information from assessments to personalize learning and tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records to document student performance.
  • Ensure instructional plans align objectives, learning strategies, assessment, and student needs.
  • Use available resources or develop additional resources to support the instructional program.
  • Treat all students in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
  • Carry out non-instructional duties as assigned or as need is perceived.
  • Adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate evidence of growth.
