About The Position

The Roger Bacon Academy is an education management organization that manages multiple award-winning public charter schools in southeastern North Carolina. We are seeking outstanding applicants to join our family of schools and welcome not only those with a degree in Education but also those with a Bachelor's degree in any field with a heart to learn to teach. Applicants have the opportunity to work with our Beginning Teacher Coordinator to determine the requirements and next steps for lateral entry certification. We also have a staff of Academic Coaches to support lateral entry teachers with ongoing training and support. This position is potentially eligible for an additional Teacher Supplement in addition to the base pay. Our Teachers are paid based on the North Carolina State Salary Scale for Bachelor's Degrees. Our researched-based Direct Instruction curriculum begins with reading by phonics and writing with attention to penmanship, spelling, grammar, and style. Mathematics, science, music, and art also receive emphasis in the basics with examples and techniques from time-honored classical sources. The children gain a solid base of knowledge well-grounded in the intellectual, aesthetic, and moral traditions of western civilization. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education with a valid teaching certificate from North Carolina or partnering state in the area for which the candidate is applying.
  • OR a Bachelor’s degree in another subject area interested in receiving an approved plan for Residency (previously referred to as "lateral entry") with an Initial Teacher License.
  • Ability to work with a Beginning Teacher Coordinator to determine requirements and next steps for lateral entry certification.
  • Ability to work with Academic Coaches for ongoing training and support.

  • Desire to continuously improve oneself as an individual and as a valued member of the team.
  • Compassionate heart to help a child reach his or her potential.
