About The Position

The K–8 Elective Teacher provides engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in assigned elective subjects (such as art, music, physical education, technology, or other specialty areas) to students in grades K–8. This teacher integrates Christian values throughout the curriculum, encourages creativity and curiosity, and helps students discover and develop their God-given talents.

Requirements

  • Believes and adheres to the beliefs and vision of Bethel Church
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or in the specific subject area of instruction (e.g., Art, Music, Physical Education, Technology, etc.).
  • Valid state teaching credential or ability to obtain one within a specified time frame.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction for K–8 students.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Personal commitment to Christian faith and alignment with the school’s mission, statement of faith, and values.
  • This position does not qualify for sponsorship of work authorization or an employment visa, so candidates must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position.

  • Ability to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • BSSM Graduate
  • Master’s degree in Education or in the elective subject area.
  • At least 2–3 years of teaching experience in a K–8 setting.
  • Experience integrating faith and learning in a classroom environment.
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction and project-based learning.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital learning tools.
  • Experience collaborating in a team-based, mission-driven school community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with school standards and Christian values.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that supports creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students across grade levels.
  • Integrate biblical principles and spiritual formation into lessons and classroom discussions.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide meaningful feedback to students and parents.
  • Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Establish clear expectations and routines that support student success and safety.
  • Promote student responsibility, collaboration, and character development.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grading records.
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, or other assigned duties.
  • Support school events, chapel services, and community-building activities.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, and core values of the school in all interactions.
