About The Position

The educator must hold a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. This position is for Certificated Teaching Personnel within the Extended Learning Opportunity Program for the 2026-27 school year. The role involves building strong partnerships between the school day and the expanded learning program, leading academic and enrichment programming, providing staff leadership and professional development, and promoting student, family, and community engagement. Classroom Teachers are evaluated based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and are responsible to the site administrator for student care, control, and instruction. They must comply with all relevant laws, district policies, and collective bargaining agreements. Duties include establishing goals, attending meetings, submitting reports, complying with child abuse reporting laws, adhering to curriculum standards, reporting student accidents or illnesses, respecting student individuality, maintaining a positive classroom environment, reporting factors hindering duties, staying updated on educational practices, enforcing student conduct rules, cooperating with colleagues and the community, providing lesson plans for substitutes, and performing non-instructional duties as prescribed.

Requirements

  • Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential required.
  • Classroom Teachers shall be evaluated by the site administrator or his/her designees on the basis of how their performance conforms to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.
  • Classroom Teachers assigned to multiple sites shall be evaluated by a site administrator assigned by the appropriate Assistant Superintendent or his/her designee.
  • Qualified first year teachers may be evaluated by a coach from the Peer Assistance and Review Program.
  • Step placement is based on prior years of K-12 teaching experience while in the possession of a valid teaching credential.
  • At least 75% of a school year must have been served to count as a year of teaching experience.
  • Classification is based on semester units completed after your Bachelor’s degree was issued.

Responsibilities

  • Builds strong partnerships between the school day and expanded learning program through collaboration, communication, and serving as a liaison among staff and administration.
  • Leads academic and enrichment programming, including homework support, intervention services, curriculum development, data monitoring and reporting and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) as lead teacher.
  • Provides staff leadership and professional development through teacher support, recruitment, monthly meetings, and ongoing training.
  • Promotes student, family, and community engagement through family events, partnerships, and special enrichment initiatives.
  • Establish, in cooperation with the principal or his/her designee (or designated by the collective bargaining agreement), goals and objectives consistent with the evaluation article of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations of the State of California, policy and rules of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board of Education, and terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Being present on campus during contractually designated time.
  • Attending job-related meetings and activities.
  • Submitting accurate forms, reports and other required documents.
  • Complying with mandatory child abuse reporting laws.
  • Adhering to State adopted curriculum and standards.
  • While on a site is responsible to the site administrator for the care, control, and instruction of the students in his/her charge.
  • Report promptly to the principal (or an individual designated by the principal) any serious accident or illness affecting students.
  • Respect the individuality of the children.
  • Maintain conditions and practices in the classrooms which positively affect the physical and mental health of the children.
  • Report promptly to the principal (or individual designated by the principal) any factors which prevent the full exercise of duties and responsibilities.
  • Keep abreast of current innovative educational practices and curriculum trends so as to be in a position to participate in policy-making processes and curriculum revision.
  • Enforce all rules governing the conduct of pupils as may be prescribed by the Superintendent and the Board of Education, as well as those developed cooperatively by the principal and the faculty, not in conflict with the Board of Education policy.
  • Work cooperatively with employees of the District and with the community.
  • Provide and maintain adequate lesson plans and instructions for substitute teachers.
  • Perform those non-instructional duties and responsibilities, including supervisory and advisory duties, as may be prescribed by the Board of Education.
