About The Position

Farmington Public Schools is seeking an experienced Head Preschool Teacher (F/T) for the Extended Care and Learning Program (EXCL). This position is located at the Farmington Collaborative Preschool @ West Woods Upper Elementary School and will begin on August 24, 2026. The hours are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The salary ranges from $24.25 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience. The role involves planning and implementing lesson plans, supervising children, delegating tasks, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Early Childhood Education, Human Development, etc.) or Charts-A-Course Head Teacher Certification
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Have knowledge of Executive Functioning techniques.
  • Have knowledge of the Second Step Curriculum.
  • Have knowledge of the Handwriting without Tears Curriculum.
  • Have effective communication skills, written and verbal with both children and adults.
  • Be able to develop behavior management system for large groups and individual students.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions such as Google Classroom and how to navigate Google Drive.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement lesson plans and center activities for students ranging in ages 3-5 years old.
  • Effectively supervise small/large groups of children.
  • Effectively delegate tasks to support teachers in classroom (planning, prep materials, daily routines).
  • Develop behavior management system for large groups and individual students.
  • Meet with school personnel as needed.
  • Develop thorough knowledge of program policies/procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of children.
  • Positive interactions with children, families and colleagues.
  • Plan and implement daily lesson plans (using district curriculum, HWT, Second Step).
  • Attendance at staff meetings and trainings.
  • Positive and age appropriate discipline.
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for children and adults where they feel comfortable and secure.
  • Assume equal share of housekeeping duties.
  • Keeping classroom and other areas neat and organized.
