The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Specialist provides on-site procedural and curricular assistance to school-based personnel for students with disabilities. This role involves coordinating ESE meetings, updating staff on policy changes, assisting regular education teachers with IEP implementation and progress monitoring, and supporting staffing committee members in developing IEPs. The specialist also communicates with parents about Procedural Safeguards and available District resources, utilizes facilitative behaviors for IEP meetings, and assists in identifying, reporting, and correcting IDEA compliance concerns. They are responsible for ensuring IEPs are implemented with fidelity, using the electronic management system for IEP documents, and adhering to all district and state policies. The position also requires participation in training programs and staying current with relevant developments in the field.
