About The Position

The Teacher – Elementary ESE Self Contained Classroom is the instructional leader of a classroom of approximately 9–12 students who exhibit significant behaviors that interfere with their own learning or that of peers. These students need a more supportive environment in an ESE self-contained classroom, a more restrictive educational setting. The role provides individualized instruction and behavioral support in an inclusive charter school network serving students with and without disabilities. UCP’s instructional approach includes customized instruction, technology integration, art integration, and project-based learning, with low student-to-instructor ratios. The teacher plans and delivers instruction through standard and modified curriculum and assessment pathways, develops individualized strategies using classroom and observational data, and participates in IEP planning. The role also leads classroom teams in behavioral assessment and intervention, communicates and collaborates with families and colleagues, completes required reporting, and provides basic caregiving duties.
