About The Position

Summit Academy North is currently hiring for a Full Time K-5 Elementary Teacher. A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement is required. Serving students from preschool through 12th grade in Romulus, Summit Academy North is a tuition-free public charter school that has helped students discover their strengths, pursue their interests, and prepare for bright futures for more than 25 years. Job Summary : We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our team. The Elementary Teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment for students. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to student development and a desire to foster a love for learning in young children.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan with an endorsement in the grade level.
Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
Regular and predictable attendance
Supervision of multiple students at once
Establishing routines and procedures
Maintaining a safe and orderly environment
Create and implement instructional plans
Participate in continuous professional development
Effective oral and written communication skills
Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
Stand and walk frequently
Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
Withstand a moderate noise level
Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
Assist/lift students, as necessary
