This position involves providing instruction to students, creating and implementing classroom disciplinary plans, and developing lesson plans and activities to supplement instruction. The teacher will also participate in building, grade level, and subject area committees, as well as professional development activities. Maintaining accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and discipline, is crucial. The role requires timely completion and submission of forms and reports, regular communication with parents regarding student progress and concerns, and reporting suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as per Board policy. Additionally, the teacher must prepare lesson plans for substitute teachers and fulfill any other assigned duties. The position supports the mission and values of Joplin Schools and requires adherence to all applicable policies, regulations, and laws. The teacher is expected to supervise students, obey safety rules, care for school property, and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the public. Effective communication, excellent customer service, and compliance with privacy rights are essential. The role also involves reacting productively to change, receiving constructive criticism, actively participating in professional development, conducting business professionally, arriving and departing work on time, attending required meetings, maintaining accurate records, and solving practical problems using math functions. Reading and interpreting documents to apply to job duties is also a requirement.
