About The Position

Provides instruction in Biology and facilitates student learning, academic growth, and achievement in the biological sciences during assigned instructional periods. The teacher delivers standards-aligned instruction, plans laboratory and hands-on learning experiences, assesses student progress, and supports student achievement in a safe, inclusive classroom environment. This is a full-time, 10-month, one-year position at New London High School Multi Magnet Campus, reporting to the Principal.

Requirements

• Hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the listed endorsement areas: 030.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned Biology instruction that develops understanding of life sciences, scientific inquiry, and real-world applications.
• Plan and facilitate laboratory investigations and hands-on learning experiences while maintaining appropriate laboratory safety procedures.
• Assess student learning, monitor academic progress, and use data to differentiate instruction and provide targeted support.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and scientific literacy.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and school staff to support student achievement and advance school and district instructional goals.
