About The Position

SPIN is hiring a Teacher Assistant for its Children Services Department. SPIN’s Early Childhood Program has Keystone Star 4 Status, the highest level of achievement for early learning programs in Pennsylvania. The Teacher Assistant supports preschoolers’ development and safety, helps with daily care and classroom activities, and works with the Lead Teacher and families to provide quality care. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for 35 hours per week, with a 41-week work year.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with young children.
• Clear, pleasant, and courteous written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and be an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

• Child Development Associate credential or Early Childhood Education credits.

Responsibilities

• Engage children in activities and play that stimulate their development.
• Supervise children appropriately and keep them safe at all times.
• Assist children with activities of daily living, including diapering or restroom use, feeding, and dressing.
• Help facilitate daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for preschoolers.
• Create and maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for children.
• Establish professional rapport with each family to provide quality care and friendly service.
• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing curriculum and planning developmentally appropriate daily activities for young children.
• Communicate with the Lead Teacher about children’s care and classroom management.
• Maintain a professional self-image and project the organization’s values.
