About The Position

The Teacher Assistant works closely with the Education team to ensure the development, implementation, and advancement of our mission. This position is responsible for assisting in providing a safe and productive environment to children living at RADIUS. The Teacher Assistant will implement a variety of evidence-based practices and academic curriculum to assist youth in meeting education goals. Teacher Assistants will meet regulatory and licensing requirements and maintain the policies of the organization.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, public administration, criminal justice, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

Ability to work with students on a one-to-one basis or in small group situations.
Ability to perform approved de-escalation and physical intervention techniques
Follow written and oral directions to carry out educational programs of students
To assist in making the classroom environment cheerful and attractive.
To collect and record data.
To make teaching materials related to the curriculum.
To carry out structured behavior programs as directed by professional staff.
To maintain confidentiality of student information.
To interact/communicate with students as directed by professional staff.
To perform as a positive member of the educational teamwork effectively with other paraprofessionals in the classroom and a variety of professional staff affiliated with the program.
To cover classroom in absence of the teacher if needed
To perform other duties as assigned.
