About The Position

Individuals can stay with their children while in treatment, while learning new life skills, so they can stay together and repair other broken relationships in their lives. Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- NYS Central Registry Check and fingerprint clearance required upon hire.
- Knowledge of NYC Department of Health regulations and codes.
- Must be able to lift small children.
- Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs).
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Working towards CDA certificate
- Associate degree in related field required.
- Working towards associate degree in related field
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Working towards Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience working with children preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist Teacher in maintaining a positive, developmentally appropriate, safe and healthy learning environment.
- Assist in implementing weekly lesson plans developed by the Teacher.
- Actively participate in individual and group child activities.
- Assist in the daily set up, break down and cleaning of the classroom.
- Assist in serving all daily snacks and meals for assigned children.
- Participate in all classroom trips and outings.
- Maintain proper inventory and functioning of all classroom materials and children supplies.
- Provide direct supervision of residents assigned to the childcare worker job function.
- Attend all required in-service training seminars, staff meetings, on and off-site case conferences.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Follow and implement licensing requirements per DOHMH and Odyssey House policies.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
