About The Position

St. Ann's Home & School is hiring teacher assistants for its education department at a residential treatment center and special education school serving children with emotional and behavioral challenges. Teacher assistants support classroom instruction and provide individual attention to students who need additional help. The role also involves participating in supervision, staff meetings, training, and treatment-team meetings. Requirements

• A BA or BS, preferably in a related field.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
• Ability to write extensively and talk for long periods of time.
• Ability to communicate with agency personnel, LEA representatives, families, and children.
• Ability to react quickly.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, climb stairs, and physically restrain children.

Responsibilities

• Implement small-group lessons in language and math.
• Assist the classroom teacher in other subject areas.
• Provide one-to-one attention to children who need extra help.
• Participate in weekly supervision.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in the in-service training program.
• Participate in treatment-team meetings regarding the children in their classrooms.
