About The Position

C.H.I.L.D., Inc. is seeking a full-time Preschool Teacher Assistant for its Kent County Head Start program. Teacher Assistants work under the direct supervision and guidance of lead classroom teachers, assisting with instructional supports and routine duties. The ideal candidate must be available to work during agency hours of operation at any of its three locations. C.H.I.L.D., Inc. is dedicated to providing high-quality early care and education and comprehensive services to at-risk children from pre-birth to pre-kindergarten and their families, utilizing evidence-based practices to promote school readiness and address the emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of children while supporting their families.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
  • Appropriate RIELDS certificate, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience in early care and education setting.
  • Valid RI driver's license and an insured vehicle.
  • Background clearances such as fingerprints, BCI, DCYF, and health records (immunizations) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree preferred in Early Childhood or a closely related field with approved/equivalent coursework.
  • Basic keyboarding and basic computer skills highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of The Creative Curriculum highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate assessment practices preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates strongly urged to apply.
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Assist the teacher with preparation and implementation of lesson plans, working with individual and small groups of children, as directed.
  • Assist the teacher with ongoing child assessment practices to monitor children’s development and learning.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and in-service trainings.
