About The Position

The Teacher Assistant supports teachers in helping students meet academic goals, including by working with small groups or individual students. The role supports classroom management and behavioral plans, helps create an appropriate learning environment, and assists with differentiated instruction. It also includes student supervision during school activities and assistance with paperwork, data collection, and documentation for the ARD/IEP process. The position is based in a classroom setting and reports to the Dean of Academics.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally to the district.
• Ability to organize special programs for the assigned campus.
• Ability to use a computer, district software and databases, spreadsheet and word-processing software, a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
• Ability to analyze data.
• Ability to use effective interview techniques, public-speaking skills, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 48 college hours is preferred.
• Experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with student academic goals by working with small groups or individual students.
• Assist teachers in enforcing classroom management and behavioral plans to create an appropriate learning environment.
• Supervise students during breakfast, recess, lunch, dismissal, special events, and programs.
• Assist teachers with preparing paperwork for the ARD/IEP process.
• Collect and enter data for special education reports and documents.
• Assist teachers with planning, preparing, and implementing differentiated instruction for individual students and groups.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
