About The Position

TES Staffing is seeking enthusiastic Substitute Teacher Aides to support the Charter Schools of Rochester at various locations throughout Rochester. The per-diem role offers a flexible schedule, with availability adjustable from week to week. Prior childcare experience is a plus but is not required. The position is suited to people interested in helping students learn and grow, including college students, retirees, and people entering the education field.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of paid or volunteer experience working with children, in an educational setting, or with people with disabilities; alternatively, at least 30 college credit hours.
• Obtain and pass a background check through NYSED.
• Be physically capable of performing all required duties.

Nice To Haves

• Prior childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers by providing instructional services, working one-on-one or with small groups, and proctoring tests.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and playgrounds, ensuring their safety and engagement.
• Use positive behavior management strategies to maintain a calm, productive classroom environment and respond to crises with confidence and care.
• Collaborate with the team to support students and communicate effectively with adults and students.
• Track student progress and document it accurately.
• Provide additional assistance to students with special needs in accordance with their individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Help with student arrival and dismissal procedures inside and outside the building.
