About The Position

The Teacher Aide (Infant/Toddler) supports the teaching team in providing a safe, nurturing environment for infants and toddlers (birth to 36 months). Under the direction of the Center Director, the Teacher Aide assists with daily caregiving routines, implements developmentally appropriate learning experiences, and builds secure relationships that support each child's social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. This role emphasizes responsive caregiving, active supervision, and individualized attention to ensure every child's health, safety, and well-being.

Requirements

  • Must pass a health screening and TB test
  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance
  • Valid Driver License
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties
  • The employee will be required to use hands for computer work, answering phone calls, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • GED/HS Diploma
  • Prior experience in working with young children is preferred.
  • Immunization records that comply with Senate Bill 792 (immunity for measles, pertussis, and influenza)
  • 6 ECE units required

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, preparing and implementing daily programs.
  • Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Assists in the Desired Results process.
  • Assists in maintaining the environment in a clean, safe manner.
  • Assumes responsibilities for regular parent communication as directed by a supervisor.
  • Always works with an Associate Teacher, Teacher, Master Teacher or Center Director.
  • Assumes general responsibility for health, safety, and well-being of all children in the agency.
  • Supports Volunteers as requested.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Participates in activities that further own professional growth.
  • Maintains confidentiality of children, families and employees.
  • Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
  • Greets children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
  • Assists other centers when requested.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher or Center Director.
  • Assists in planning, preparing, and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences and caregiving routines that support the growth and development of infants and toddlers.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, responsive, and engaging learning environment, including preparing materials and age-appropriate experiences.
  • Provides active supervision and engages children during caregiving routines, indoor and outdoor experiences, meals, rest periods, and transitions.
  • Builds positive, responsive relationships with children to support secure attachments, emotional well-being, and a sense of belonging.
  • Supports children with diverse developmental, learning, cultural, and language needs, including children with disabilities and special needs.
  • Assists in the Desired Results process
  • Observes and documents children's behavior, interests, developmental progress, and emerging skills as directed.
  • Supports individualized caregiving practices, including feeding, diapering, toileting, sleeping, and other routines in a respectful and responsive manner.
  • Helps maintain a clean, organized, healthy, and safe classroom environment that meets licensing and agency requirements.
  • Assumes responsibilities for family communication as directed by a supervisor and helps foster positive partnerships with families.
  • Assumes general responsibility for the health, safety, supervision, and well-being of all children in the agency.
  • Supports implementation of inclusive practices and individualized plans for children as needed.
  • Supports volunteers, substitutes, and visitors as requested.
  • Attends meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as requested.
  • Greets children, families, staff, and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Follows all licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, active supervision practices, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Assists at other centers or classrooms when requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
