Teacher - Adult Education

About The Position

Responsible for planning and implementing the instructional program for Adult Education students. The teacher develops lessons based on student needs and Texas Adult Education Content Standards, adapts instruction for students with varied interests, abilities, and special learning needs, and uses assessment data and evidence-based practices to support student learning and performance. The role also includes maintaining attendance, student records, assessment outcomes, and other program objectives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
General knowledge of computer systems and software applications.
Three years of teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

Texas teacher certificate preferred.
Bilingual skills desired.
Experience in adult education desired.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement effective lessons with clear learning objectives based on student needs and the Texas Adult Education Content Standards.
Adjust instruction for students with different interests and abilities, including students with special learning needs.
Demonstrate understanding of the program’s registration, assessment, and placement procedures.
Understand and use National Reporting System (NRS) student assessment data to evaluate and improve student performance.
Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
Implement evidence-based strategies or best practices in the classroom to improve student learning and performance.
Maintain good student attendance and take appropriate steps to address attendance problems when necessary.
Provide timely and accurate student records, including goal settings, attendance, portfolios of student work, and student achievements.
Maintain good student performance on state assessments and other program objectives, and take appropriate steps to address performance problems when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
