About The Position

The TDS Proteins Development Cell Engineering, Analytics & Screening (CEAS) organization is seeking a highly motivated Co-Op to support cell line engineering, proteomics, metabolomics, analytical platform development, and cell culture research initiatives that advance biologics development and manufacturing. This role provides hands-on experience in CHO cell biology, mass spectrometry-based analytics, quantitative proteomics and metabolomics, assay automation, and data analysis. The successful candidate will collaborate with scientists and engineers to investigate the molecular mechanisms that influence cell productivity, product quality, titer, and manufacturing performance while contributing to the development of next-generation analytical platforms that support cell line development and process optimization.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Biology, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical, Biological, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Related scientific disciplines.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and scientific curiosity.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

  • Experience with mass spectrometry and biological sample preparation.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and scientific data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to analyze, process, and interpret LC-MS/MS and other biological datasets.
  • Familiarity with proteomics, metabolomics, protein characterization, and biological sample analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and/or familiarity with metabolomics workflows and biological pathway analysis.
  • Experience with proteomics, including sample preparation, LC-MS/MS data acquisition, processing, and interpretation.
  • Experience with LC-MS-based analysis of biological samples.
  • Experience with quantitative proteomics, functional proteomics, or protein characterization studies.
  • Experience operating mass spectrometry instrumentation and supporting analytical method development.
  • Knowledge of LC-MS methods, data processing, and biological data interpretation.
  • Familiarity with mammalian cell culture and CHO cell-based production systems.
  • Interest or experience in cell line engineering, cell line development, and biologics manufacturing.
  • Understanding of cellular pathways, metabolism, protein regulation, productivity (Qp), titer, and product quality attributes.
  • Familiarity with automating analytical assays and routine laboratory workflows.
  • Experience supporting high-throughput analytical platforms and workflow optimization.
  • Experience improving assay robustness, reproducibility, scalability, and throughput through automation.
  • Protein characterization wet-lab experience.
  • Experience designing, executing, and documenting biological or analytical experiments.
  • Experience with sample preparation methods for proteomics, metabolomics, and protein characterization analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting cell line engineering and cell culture research activities focused on improving productivity, product quality, and manufacturing performance.
  • Developing, optimizing, and implementing proteomics and metabolomics workflows to characterize cellular pathways, biological mechanisms, and molecular drivers of cell performance.
  • Supporting the development of analytical platforms for cell line selection, characterization, and monitoring.
  • Performing sample preparation, method development, and analysis for LC-MS/MS, mass spectrometry, proteomics, and metabolomics studies.
  • Generating and analyzing Host Cell Protein (HCP) profiles to support cell line development and characterization.
  • Supporting the development of high-throughput and automated analytical workflows to improve efficiency, reproducibility, and scalability.
  • Developing and refining sample preparation, analytical methods, and experimental workflows for biological sample analysis.
  • Investigating protein function, regulation, and interaction networks to identify potential cell engineering targets that improve cell productivity, titer, and product quality.
  • Collaborating with upstream process development teams to address research questions related to cell culture performance, process optimization, and complex biologics modalities.
  • Operating advanced analytical instrumentation and supporting technology transfer, validation, and implementation activities.
  • Analyzing, interpreting, visualizing, and presenting experimental results using statistical and analytical approaches.
  • Participating in experimental design discussions and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Maintaining laboratory notebooks, technical documentation, and project records in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Providing additional laboratory, analytical, and project support as needed.
