Want to join a team that makes a meaningful impact in local communities? Working for the Tax Office is an opportunity to provide essential services and resources that directly benefit you, your neighbors, and the residents of Travis County. As a Tax Office employee, you’ll enjoy competitive pay, a generous retirement plan, and 100% employer-paid medical and life insurance on select plans. We also offer tuition reimbursement, a wide range of leave options, including 12 paid holidays each year, up to 8 weeks of paid parental leave, paid personal holidays, and bi-monthly accrual of sick and vacation leave. As a Tax Specialist II, you will support the community by assisting with voter registration services and helping ensure accurate and efficient election operations. In this role, you will use your customer service, communication, and data entry skills to provide accurate information to the public, assist with forms and records, and ensure compliance with election laws, policies, and procedures. This position plays an essential role in supporting the Voter Registration team throughout the election cycle and helping maintain smooth day-to-day operations. Please note that during peak election periods, extended working hours may be required to support critical phases of the election process. Travel may also be required to support business needs. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is the second in a series of three tax-related job classifications within the Administrative Support job family. This classification is distinguished from the Tax Specialist I in that incumbents typically have more experience, extensive tasking capabilities, require limited supervision to meet performance standards and provide leadership to subordinate personnel. This classification is distinguished from the Tax Specialist III in that incumbents do not typically perform special projects and do not perform officially in a supervisory capacity.
