About The Position
The Tax/Motor Vehicle Technician works in person at the Ogden DMV, located at 2447 Lincoln Ave, Ogden, Utah. The position provides motor vehicle services to the public, including issuing vehicle documents, processing transactions, answering questions, assisting with paperwork, and physically inspecting vehicles to verify VINs. Applicants must successfully pass a criminal history check. No drug test is required. The position is classified as B - Competitive Career Service. Non-state employees are hired at $19.68 per hour; hourly wage amounts are not negotiable. DHRM rules apply to promotions and transfers for current state employees. The posting lists an hourly wage range of $15.47 to $27.34.
Requirements
- Experience understanding processes and procedures and applying them in day-to-day functions.
- Experience communicating effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Experience following laws and rules and handling customers tactfully and professionally.
- Experience using computer programs in day-to-day functions.
- Experience paying attention to detail and handling money accurately.
- Successfully pass a criminal history check.
Responsibilities
- Issue license plates, permits, registrations, certificates, and related items.
- Receive, research, and respond to questions or complaints; provide information, explain policies and procedures, and facilitate resolutions.
- Process transactions using a Point of Sale system, provide correct change, and close the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
- Assist members of the public and others with completing forms, applications, and other paperwork.
- Examine documents for applicability, legibility, completeness, accuracy, and consistency of information.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing and verbally, and read and understand written information.
- Perform comprehensive physical inspections of motor vehicles to verify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
