About The Position

The Tax/Motor Vehicle Technician works at the Ogden DMV, providing motor vehicle services to the public. Duties include issuing plates, permits, registrations, and certificates; answering questions and complaints; processing point-of-sale transactions and handling cash; helping customers complete forms; reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; and physically inspecting vehicles to verify VINs. This is an in-office, full-time position at 2447 Lincoln Ave, Ogden, Utah. The position requires successfully passing a criminal history check.

Requirements

Experience understanding processes and procedures and applying them in day-to-day functions.
Experience communicating effectively with a wide variety of people.
Experience following laws and rules and handling customers tactfully and professionally.
Experience using computer programs in day-to-day functions.
Experience demonstrating attention to detail and handling money accurately.
Successfully pass a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

Issue license plates, permits, registrations, certificates, and related items.
Receive, research, and respond to questions or complaints; provide information, explain policies and procedures, and facilitate resolutions.
Process transactions through a point-of-sale system, provide correct change, and close the cash drawer at the end of a shift.
Assist the public and others with completing forms, applications, and other paperwork.
Examine documents for applicability, legibility, completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing and verbally, and read and understand written information.
Physically inspect motor vehicles to verify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
