About The Position

This role serves as a key liaison between senior managers, partners, clients, and staff throughout all phases of engagements. The Tax Manager will prepare and review Forms 990, 990‑T, and related state returns, and support joint cost allocations and tax‑exempt compliance matters. The position involves advising clients on tax‑exempt status and regulatory considerations, identifying and evaluating unrelated business income tax (UBIT), including planning and exposure reviews, and assisting with the formation of taxable and non‑taxable subsidiaries. Additionally, the role supports planned giving strategies and advisory services, monitors and interprets legislative changes impacting not‑for‑profit organizations, and conducts excess benefit transaction studies. The Tax Manager will also contribute to staff development by coaching, mentoring, and sharing technical knowledge, and participate in new client business development and relationship building.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting, tax consulting, or similar, with a focus on not‑for‑profit clients
  • 3+ years of direct not‑for‑profit tax experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Active CPA license
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and tax preparation software
