With an ideal balance of hands-on execution and high-level strategy, you will have ownership in creating an efficient, high-functioning tax department that adds value to the business. This isn't a traditional compliance role; we need a builder with a strong tax technical background and a genuine interest in building relationships and collaborating across the business. True Autonomy & Impact: You will work hand-in-hand with the VP of Tax, giving you a front-row seat to global tax strategy and immediate impact on the business. A Modern Operational Playbook: In this role, you will be empowered to use modern technology and automation to streamline workflows, acting as a true force multiplier. Global Exposure: You will gain experience managing a multi-entity footprint spanning almost a dozen countries, with a strong focus on UK and US tax law.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of progressive corporate tax experience within a regional/Big 4 public accounting firm or a multinational in-house corporate tax department.
  • Proactive Relationship-Building Skills: You are a genuinely collaborative, people-first professional who isn't shy about pick-up-the-phone outreach. Whether it's cold-calling a regional controller in another country to introduce yourself or grabbing coffee with a local business partner, you naturally build the trust and cross-functional relationships needed to get things done.
  • International Foundations: Exposure to multi-entity corporate structures and cross-border transactions, with a solid foundational understanding of corporate income tax and US GAAP or IFRS accounting standards.
  • A Tech-Enabled Efficiency Mindset: A proven track record of using data tools to optimize accounting or tax workflows. You naturally look for ways to leverage technology and automate repetitive processes so you can spend less time on manual entry and more time collaborating and strategizing with the business.
  • Systems Familiarity: Experience with corporate tax software and advanced data analytics and automation tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Nice To Haves

  • Hold a professional credential such as a CPA, MST, or equivalent.
  • Understand the tax implications and risks inherent to M&A transactions.
  • Have experience within the technology sector.
  • Have a strong conceptual understanding of indirect tax frameworks (VAT/GST and US Sales & Use tax) to seamlessly collaborate with our commercial business units.

Responsibilities

  • Execute on the Day-to-Day Operational Aspects of Running a Tax Department: This will look different every day, but includes completing account reconciliations, researching tax issues and documenting conclusions, cash tax forecasting, preparing the quarterly tax provision and more.
  • Oversee International Tax & Transfer Pricing: Monitor inter-company transactions, maintain transfer pricing documentation, and ensure structural alignment across our cross-border entities.
  • Manage Global Compliance: Co-manage and coordinate the preparation, review, and timely filing of all corporate income tax returns across 12 countries, with a specific focus on our core UK and US entities.
  • Drive Tax Automation: Identify, design, and implement automated workflows for data collection, tax provisioning, and compliance reporting to eliminate manual, repetitive spreadsheet tasks.
  • Own Tax Data & Systems: Lead the implementation of new Tax Provision software and act as the tax department’s super-user for our financial systems, ensuring ERP data structures cleanly support tax provision (IFRS / ASC 740) and global reporting requirements.
  • Direct External Advisors: Serve as the primary operational liaison with external global tax advisors and regional accounting firms to ensure local statutory compliance is delivered flawlessly and on time.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Act as a collaborative internal resource for Finance, Tech, Legal, and HR, advising on the tax implications of commercial decisions, including providing guidance on indirect tax matters (VAT, Sales & Use tax) when needed.
