About The Position

Rivet is an AI-enabled corporate & personal tax prep firm, supporting over 1,000 innovative founders and their companies. We work with hundreds of executives, HNWIs, and venture capitalists, combining corporate tax, personal taxes, R&D credits, and bookkeeping. Our goal is to minimize the time clients spend on tax season while maximizing their tax savings. We are growing quickly, well-funded, and backed by prominent investors and operators.

Requirements

3-5 years of hands-on 1040 experience, including a portfolio of founders, execs, or HNWIs.
Comfort with founder-specific complexity: equity comp, QSBS, multi-state residency, K-1 reporting.
Ability to immediately spot errors or advisory opportunities on prepared returns.
Genuine care for clients and pride in helping them navigate their financial journey.
Strong written communication skills, able to explain complex tax questions simply.

Nice To Haves

1041 / Trusts & Estates experience.
CPA or EA designation (company provides roadmap and financial support to obtain).
Past experience within a firm serving VC-backed founders or family offices.

Responsibilities

Manage the 1040 and 1041 lifecycle, performing diagnostic reviews to ensure accuracy and sound strategy.
Serve as the equity expert, providing guidance on QSBS, 83(b) elections, ISOs/NSOs/RSUs, secondaries, and other founder/exec equity matters.
Coordinate with the corporate tax team to align personal planning with company strategy.
Lead virtual client meetings for quarterly projections, year-end planning, and ad-hoc questions.
Improve internal systems by identifying patterns, flagging templatable items, and partnering with engineering and ops.
Communicate quickly, clearly, and proactively with clients.
